12 teams will take part in the ninth edition of the Gelato World Cup in January 2020. During these months the selections will be held in the world to define the teams that will compete for the coveted world champion title in the 7 categories of gelato, pastry, haute cuisine and ice sculpture competition.
The 2019 edition of Targi Cukiernicze the Lodziarski Expo Sweet scheduled for February 17-20 in Warsaw hosted the national selection for the identification of the national team of the Gelato World Cup 2020 . The team composed by Jakub Cwiklinski and Mariusz Gorecki is the winner of the Polish selection of gelato at @exposweet. The gelato maker and pastry chef have collected the prizes in Warsaw winning also special prizes for best sorbet, best chocolate gelato, best vanilla gelato and best fancy gelato. Welcome to the Poland team for the # CMG2020.
From the 22nd to the 26th of February 2019 at Interscop in Madrid, Spain will select the 4 team members who will represent the Nation at the ninth edition of the Gelato World Cup.
Sigep – Italian Exibition Group and Carpigiani organised for the first time, under the patronage of Gelato e Cultura srl, a traveling selection to identify 12 Gelato makers, 12 pastry and 12 chefs who partecipated in Sigep Gelato d’oro from 19 to 21 January 2019. At Sigep Gelato d’Oro the italian team was selected: Eugenio Morrone, Massimo Carnio, Marco Martinelli and Ciro Chiummo.
Organised by UBM and supported by the Singapore Pastry Alliance, the Asian Gelato Cup – the first official Asian selection for the highly accredited Coppa del Mondo of Gelateria (Gelato World Cup), held from 24 to 27 April 2018 in conjunction with Food&HotelAsia (FHA), the preferred choice for industry professionals to access an international showcase of food and hospitality products, equipment and solutions, which are needed to drive business inspiration today and tomorrow. 12 teams from 10 Asian countries and regions joined the selection, out of which three teams will will get to represent their cities at the Gelato World Cup 2020 in Rimini, Italy: Singapore, Japan, Malesia. The winners have been selected by an esteemed panel of judges, including president of the Gelato World Cup, Giancarlo Timballo as head judge, Philippines’ TV celebrity chef Jackie Ang Po and General Secretary of Indonesian Pastry Alliance Louis Tanuhadi, among others. Medals and Certificates of Awards will also be given out for Best Gelato Cake, Best Plated Dessert, Best Artistic Showpiece, Best Tasting Gelato prize and Best Team Spirit.
The Trials for the Mexican Team, took place in Mexico City from the 22nd to the 24th of February 2018. Each team, consisting of a Gelato Maker and a Pastry Chef, has faced three challenges: decorated pan, decorated cup and mystery box. The winning team will take part in the North America Championship which will select the Team for the Gelato World Cup 2020. Sergio Dondoli has been a member of the jury panel, in representation of the CMG organising committee.
The 1st Indonesia Gelato Competition debuted in Bali on the 10th of February 2018. The competition has selected the Gelato Maker for the Indonesia Team at the Asian Gelato Cup scheduled in April 2018 at the Singapore Expo.
